Science, solutions, unity -- building a livable planet
Climate change is a question of the times, and mankind is standing at the crossroads of choice. Global warming is disrupting the ecology at an unprecedented rate: extreme weather threatens food security, sea level rise exacerbates floods, and if we do not act, the future response cost will rise exponentially.
The core driving force comes from human activities. Since industrialization, the concentration of greenhouse gases has reached the peak in millions of years due to the combustion of fossil fuels. The earth is wrapped in a "hot blanket", and the temperature continues to rise. The scientific correlation is clear: the higher the concentration, the faster the temperature rise, and the greater the ecological risk.
The current temperature has risen by 1.1 ℃, and there is a huge gap from the 1.5 ℃ temperature control target. The United Nations report points out that global emissions must be reduced by 42% by 2030, otherwise every minute of temperature rise will exacerbate disasters and resource instability.
The turnaround remains. Promoting clean energy and low-carbon travel can not only slow down warming, but also improve health and employment. The real way out lies in "climate adaptive development" - the integration of emission reduction and adaptation, and the combination of science and local experience.
The choice of the next few years will determine the fate of the earth. Now is the time for action.
